Haunted Class: South Park Library

Discovery & Ghostly Encounters

Discover the chilling history of the South Park Library in South Park Township, Pennsylvania. While the library officially found its residence in a single room at the end of Wilson Hall in 1960, the deep roots date back to 1833.

It all began with a private library collection in the home of John Moore. Moore started a dedicated fund to purchase books, and community members quickly expanded the collection to over 2,000 volumes. A formal “Library Society” was soon established. The final librarian of that early era was Samuel Wilson, a local blacksmith who uniquely stored the collection inside his stable.

If these historic books could talk, the ghost stories they would tell! In February 1969, the collection was moved into the infamous, haunted Broughton School. The books migrated to a new home the following year, leaving those paranormal encounters behind—until now.
