Discover the Mystery of Baldwin Library
The Baldwin Borough Public Library first opened its doors in 1964. For nearly 30 years, this community library operated out of the Wallace School building, owned by the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. During this time, the library persevered through major building challenges, including falling windows, lack of heating, and a collapsing ceiling.
In April 2019, securing multiple community grants allowed the library to relocate to a modern new facility. Situated near a major apartment complex, the new location successfully welcomes new residents and local families every day. Today, they are proud to stand as an inviting Pittsburgh-area community center dedicated to lifelong learning and engagement.
Don’t let this modernized building fool you. The books on the shelves hold echoes of the past within their very pages. A faint, shadowy hand turning pages one by one, deeply absorbed in the library’s collection of mysterious tales.
If you get frustrated looking for a specific title, you might not be alone. A mischievous local spirit roams the aisles, frequently re-shelving books in unexpected locations.
Once the library doors close, the real history comes alive. Join us under the flickering lights as we welcome the spirits for a spine-chilling lesson on the unknown.
