Creepy Baltimore Catacombs:

Visit the Edgar Allan Poe Grave

Explore Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds, an iconic Baltimore landmark established in 1786. As the final resting place of many notable historical figures, our historic cemetery offers a deep dive into early American history.

The most famous individual resting beyond our gates is the master of macabre, Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849). He rests alongside his wife, Virginia Clemm Poe, and other members of the Poe family. Visitors from around the world travel here to pay tribute to his literary legacy.

Step back in time as you walk among the graves of influential heroes from the American Revolution and the War of 1812. Every tombstone tells a story of Maryland’s pivotal role in early American history.

The chills and goosebumps extend far beneath the church floor. Venture underground into our subterranean burial chambers, known as the Baltimore Catacombs. This unique underground cemetery was created when the church was constructed directly over the original graveyard.

Behind decaying coffins and askew tombstones, the spirits of the past still linger. Stay close to your guide as you navigate the twists, turns, and disturbed graves of these dark passageways.
